Vaccination of stranded Bangladeshi expatriates will begin from July 6. The registration for vaccines can be done from July 5 through Surokkha app.
This information was provided by the Directorate General of Health Services Line Director Md Shamsul Haque at a virtual press conference on Thursday.
He said that migrants will be able to register for vaccines through Surokkha app. A separate window has been created for them. After the registration they will receive SMS on the same night and hopefully from next day (Tuesday) they will be able to get vaccinated.
He further said that the expatriates have to pre-register through the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) before registering on the Surokkha app. The pre-registration can be done through their Ami Probashi app.
“Migrant workers will also be able to register from the offices of BMET in various districts across the country. After the registration, we will receive the list and send it to the ICT division after checking and sorting. They will make the final list. A vaccine card will be issued after registration in the Surokkha app and the expats will be vaccinated through this card”, he said.
Shamsul Haque mentioned that the BMET offices across the country will remain open every day including Fridays and Saturdays even during the lockdown.
He added that there are complications regarding the Sinopharm vaccine in four countries, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Therefore, the expatriate workers of these four countries will be given the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 and expatriates of other countries will be vaccinated with Sinopharm.
