Md. Farooq Bhuiyan, an expatriate returning to Dubai, boarded a train to return home after about 2.5 years. But he fainted before reaching his destination. When he regained consciousness, he discovered himself in Brahmanbaria. But he did not have his luggage bags with him. Surprisingly, the railway police returned his lost luggage within 48 hours of the incident. Police found the real owner of the bag in Brahmanbaria on the basis of a SIM card packet and handed over the goods to him.

Chattogram Railway Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury handed over the recovered goods to Chattogram Railway Police GRP Police Station on Saturday morning. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sarwar Alam was present at the time.

According to the railway police, the railway police recovered some goods from the bogie of the Karnafhuli Express train which left Dhaka last Thursday.

The recovered items include 2 cartons, 1 white plastic shopping bag, 1 black chained shopping bag, 2 hand lights, a packet of chocolates, 1 empty packet of blankets, 1 chain open red-black travel bag.

Chattogram Railway SP Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury said the goods were recovered with the help of RNB members and porters of Chittagong Railway Station but the owner could not be traced. From the recovered packets, we found an NID and a SIM card packet. We identify Md. Faruq Bhuiyan, an expatriate in Vijay Nagar, Brahmanbaria on the basis of that SIM card. Later, after checking and sorting with the help of Vijay Nagar police, we became sure that the real owner of the goods recovered from Chattogram station was Md. Faruq Bhuiyan.

Expatriate Faruq Bhuiyan said he returned to the country from Dubai on June 21. After returning to the country, he stayed at a relative's house in Dhaka for a month as he had some work to do. The Eid day before, he boarded the Chattogram-bound Karnafhuli Express train from Kamalapur station to go home to Brahmanbaria.

Faruq Bhuiyan said, "After crossing Gazipur, I suddenly fell ill and became unconscious." Later the people on the train dropped me off at Brahmanbaria station. When I regained consciousness, I saw that I was in Brahmanbaria. But I do not have the goods.

He said, Chattogram GRP police contacted me through Vijay Nagar police last Friday. Police recovered my lost luggage within 48 hours of the train's disappearance. That is why I am grateful to the Railway Police.
