Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a little magazine exhibition with the aim to spread little magazine movement at the Gallery VI of National Art Gallery.
The seven-day exhibition titled Little Magazine Pradarshani o Sammanona 2023 is featuring over 1,000 print issues belonging to 200 little magazines published in the country from the eighties to present-day.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy assistant director and little magazine programme coordinator Abu Saleh Md Abdullah said that the academy organised the exhibition to preserve little magazine movement and popularise the movement among the younger generation.
‘Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has created an archive by collecting little magazines from different sources,’ said Abu Saleh.
He also said that little magazines published from the eighties, namely Aninda, Charjapad, Gandib, Lyric and others have been display in the exhibition.
Different print issues of Obayed Akash-edited little magazine Shaluk are being displayed in the exhibition. The subjects of the issues include, Jibanananda Das, Shahidul Zahir, contemporary Bangla and world poems, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and others.
The print issues of the journal for art, culture, literature and heritage titled Nandipath edited by Sajjad Arefin include essays, poems, short stories, translations, literary criticisms, interviews, commemorative writings and others.
Besides, Garo community-based Mithun Raksam-edited little magazine titled Thokbirim has been displayed at the exhibition. The magazine contains an interview of Tushi Hagidok on War of Indepdence, Garo poems, a story, an essay on Garo language and literature and others.
Aniket Shamim-edited little magazine Loke includes special volumes on poet Mahbub Kabir, novelist Imtiar Shamim, writer Salimullah Khan and others.
Besides, Habibur Rahman-edited Rashtrochinta, Hasan Shahriar-edited Theatrewala, Haider Akbar Khan Rono-edited Comrade, Ektiza Ahsan-edited Prantaswar, Monirul Monir-edited Kharimati, Humayun Kabir-edited Ghunghur, Abu Sayed-edited Sawpno ‘71, Khaled ud-din-edited Bunon and others have also been displayed in the exhibition, which ends on Wednesday.
The exhibition, which began on April 6, will end today.
