Exercises to prevent fire accidents held at Chattogram port

After the explosion and terrible fire at BM Container Depot, a rehearsal was held at Chattogram Port to check the dynamics of the overall activities of the Port Fire Branch to prevent any untoward fire accident.

 Members of the ISPS Monitoring Cell also witnessed the exercise held on Saturday.

 The exercise was held in the presence of port members (Harbor and Marine) in front of the P Chemical Shed under the Fire Branch of the Security Department to increase the firefighting capacity of Chattogram Port and prevent fire accidents.

Chattogram Port Secretary Md. Omar Faruq said that 2 fire tenders, 1 rescue tender, all types of small and large fire extinguishing geysers were used in the exercise. ABC powder, foam and carbon dioxide are used in fire fighting.  At first the idea of using different types of extruding guisars were given.

 Container transfer, solid, liquid and electric fire extinguishing are then practiced.  Fire fighting is practiced by creating high-pressure water spray and water jet at the same time as a way to extinguish the fire.

  Various officers and employees of Security Department, Transport Department, Mechanical Department and Marine Department and members of Bangladesh Army stationed at the port participated.  Hundreds of port officials and employees, including 20 members of the fire department, took part in the exercise
