Former parliamentarian MA Awal was sent to jail on Wednesday after ending remand period in a case filed in connection with land owner Shain Uddin murder in city’s Pallabi area recently.
Inspector Syed Iftekhair Hossain, Investigation Officer of the sensational murder case, produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Judge Court after ending a four-day remand.
He also submitted a petition to keep the key accused Awal inside the jail until end of the investigation.
Based on the petition, Judge Begum Mahmoda Akter passed order to send him jail.
Earlier on May 20, three persons, including the former MP, were arrested in connection with the sensational Shahin Uddin murder case.
The accused were Md Sumon Bepari (33), Md Rocky Talukder (25) and MA Awal, former MP of Lakshipur-1 constituency.
On May 16, Shahin Uddin was hacked to death in broad daylight, in front of his seven-year-old son. He was called to resolve a land dispute.
However, his mother Aklima Begum filed the case with Pallabi police station.
