EVM voting in UP polls in Kishoreganj

The 6th phase of Pakundia and Kuliyarchar UP elections ended in Kishoreganj. 

Voters went to cast their votes in EVM system for the first time in the ten Union Parishad elections of Pakundia and Kuliyarchar upazilas on Monday. 

The average time spent for each vote was around 5-6 minutes. Besides, the law enforcement agencies including the police were active in controlling any unstable situation of Charteki center of Jangalia union. On the other hand, 3 people including Awami League nominee Sahab Uddin were injured in the clash around Patuabhanga Union.

A large turnout of male and female voters was seen at various polling stations in Jangalia, Charfaradi, Egaro­sindur, Burudia, Patuabhanga, Narandi, Hosendi, Chandipasha, Suk­hiya and Ramdi union of Kuliarchar upazila on Monday (January 31). 

There are total 93 polling stations in 9 unions of Pakundia upazila. Voters complained that voting was delayed in EVM system as the voters did not know how to do it well. However, the turnout of voters was high. 

District Election Officer Ashraful Alam said that voting was conducted smoothly in every center through EVM.

It may be mentioned that this election was held in EVM in 567 booths of 93 centers of nine unions of Pakundia upazila. The total number of voters in the nine unions is 1 lakh 78 thousand 958 out of which 89,664 are male voters and 88,294 are female voters.
