Leaders of aboriginal communities of Rajshahi on Wednesday have demanded to form a separate land commission for the aboriginal people of the Northern region.
It is learnt, in observance of the International Labour Day leaders of National Adibashi Parishad, Rajshahi, in a meeting mentioned that though the plain land aboriginal people are all pure labourers, including the adult female members, they are deprived of all sort of rights including the human rights and land rights. In the written statement at the meeting ethnic leaders mentioned, aboriginal people of the Northern region are deprived in all respects.
They are being discriminated against everywhere. To get rid of such a situation, the aboriginal people are required to be saturated with the mainstream of development, otherwise, there will be no development of the country, they mentioned.
Moreover, they demanded to distribute the Khas land and Khas ponds among aboriginal people, security of aboriginal male and female and to ensure pure drinking water for the aboriginal people.
The aboriginal leaders hoped the present government will consider the demands of the aboriginal people of the northern region with sympathy.
The meeting was attended, among others, by the president of National Adibashi Parishad Rabindranath Soren, Professor Jogendranth Soren, President of Adibashi Chhatra Parishad Upen Rabi Das and General Secretary of Adibashi Chhatra Parishad Subash Hembrom.
