Essentials at affordable prices in Ramadan

25 mobile outlets in city to operate

The government will begin selling milk, eggs, fish, and meat at affordable prices in mobile sales centers keeping in mind the common customers and low-income beneficiaries.

These products will be sold at 25 places in Dhaka starting from the first day of fasting month of Ramadan till 28th day of the month. On Sunday (March 10) morning, Minister Abdur Rahman of Fisheries and Livestock inaugurated this program on the premises of the Directorate of Livestock in Khamarbari in the city.

The mobile sales centres will sell beef at Tk 600 per kg, mutton at Tk 900 per kg, dressed (skinless) broiler at Tk 250 per kg, milk at Tk 80 per litre and eggs at Tk 9 each. Besides, 650 kg of beef and fish will be sold at low cost in eight places and the two cities in five places. Customers can buy up to one kilogram of beef, mutton, and chicken daily.

In the mobile sales centres dressed (without skin) broiler will be sold at Tk 250 per kg, milk at Tk 80 per litre and eggs at Tk 9 each. Besides, beef will be sold at 650 kg in temporary shops at five places in two cities and fish at cheap prices at eight places. 

The Mobile Sales Centers are - Newbazar (Bada), Karail Basti (Banani), Khamarbari (Farmgate), Azimpur Matrisdan (Azimpur), Gabtali, Diabari (North), Japan Garden City (Mohammedpur), Shatfoot Road (Mirpur), Khilgaon (Rail south of the crossing), next to Secretariat (Abdul Gani Road), Segunbagicha (Kachhabazar), Arambagh (Motijheel), Rampura, Kalsi (Mirpur), Jatrabari (at the mouth of Maniknagar Gali), Basila (Mohammedpur), Hazaribagh, Lucas (Nakhalpara), Arambagh ( Motijheel), Kamrangir Char, Mirpur 10, Kalyanpur (Jhilpara), Tejgaon, Old Dhaka (Bangbazar) Kakrail.

It was informed at the event that 38 officials of the Department of Livestock will take care of the entire program in 10 teams.

Besides, the sale of TCB products (edible oil and pulses) at subsidized prices among one crore beneficiary cardholder families of low income is ongoing. On the occasion of Holy Ramadan, the second phase of sales has been started across the country from March 7.

A consumer with a family card can buy a maximum of two litres of soybean oil, two kg of lentils, one kg of sugar and one kg of dates. In this case, the price of soybean oil will be kept at Tk 100 per litre, sugar at Tk 100, lentils at 60 per kg, dates at Tk 150 and rice at Tk 30 per kg.

According to TCB, the distributors will conduct this activity according to the scheduled date and time in cooperation with the city corporation, district and upazila administration. During this time, family cardholders can buy products from the distributors' shops or designated places in their respective areas.
