Enhance supervising investigations: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed on Tuesday instructed the field level police officers to continue monitoring through intensive supervision until the case is solved.

He also ordered senior police officers to increase supervising the investigations.

IGP made the remarks while presiding over a quarterly crime conference at the Police Headquarters.

He said, “There have been many positive changes in police. This process of positive changes will be continued.”

 “The common people who come to police station with problems must be satisfied with the optimum service from police personnel. We are working keeping that in mind,” he added.

In order to be a people-friendly police, the police personnel at the police stations must treat the common people well, help them and be supportive to them, he continued.

IGP said the police should use legal capacity, not muscle power.

Reiterating his commitment to build a drug-free police force, the IGP issued an unequivocal warning. If any police member is illegally involved with drugs strict actions will be taken against the wrongdoer. We have adopted the zero tolerance policy in this regard and this process will be continued, he added.

Dr. Benazir Ahmed said, “We have introduced bit policing to avail the police service to the doorsteps of the people. Bit policing activities have already started across the country.”

Successful bit policing will reduce many crimes in the society, he said adding that the need to increase intensive communication with the people. IGP said that in order to reduce the incidence of crime, the practice of pro-active policing as well as preventive policing should be increased. 

Instructing to be strict about discipline, the IGP said that discipline cannot be compromised in any way. Professional relationships with co-workers and people of other professions at the workplaces should get importance. Professional relationships are not personal relationships.

Any crime mentality must be suppressed with a strong hand, he added.

Meanwhile, he said that the police force can win the hearts of millions by their good deeds, he added.
