The National Sports Council (NSC) formed ad-hoc committees by disbanding the committees of nine federations on Friday. Apart from football, cricket, all other federations of the country mainly depend on the General Secretary (GS).
In the nine federations announced, some of them became GS for the first time and some have been appointed after a long time. . The words of all, new and old, are almost the same, “to improve the overall quality of the game by keeping the activities going on with transparency.”
Athletics is known as the mother of all disciplines. Former fastest man and Coach Shah Alam has again been appointed as the GS of the federation. Again sitting in the important chair of the Athletics Federation, this former star athlete said, “Athletics has been at a standstill for the last three months. Our first aim will be to organize national athletics. Long-term training with talents from that competition.”
Fide Master (FM) Taybur Rahman Sumon is the GS of chess Federation. Rather than the planning and implementation of this joint secretary of the government, many of us know the necessary plan for the development of chess and how to implement it. The problem is with the resources of money.
As the GS, he now took that challenge on his shoulders, “I will try to bring money to chess through my communication and ability. If everyone in the committee works together, I hope there will be a beautiful atmosphere in chess. Chess Federation will dominate chess players.”
Syed Sujauddin Ahmed is one of the best organizers of chess in Bangladesh. Four grandmasters of Bangladesh were created during his tenure. He was away from the Chess Federation for the last one and a half years. At the age of seventy, he had to take the responsibility of the president of the federation again, the government gave him the responsibility again.
Efforts will be made to improve the quality as much as possible by keeping the game running.
Although tennis is one of the most popular sports in the world, it is not much discussed in Bangladesh.
Istiaq Ahmed Karen has again become the General Secretary of Tennis Federation. The aim of this organizer is to know the beginning and end of tennis, to bring players from the grass root level besides keeping the game on the tennis court all the time.
Efforts will also be made to follow specific selection criteria for sending teams to national teams or international arenas.
Billiards and snookers are very popular at the individual level, but the federation has not been able to promote these games.
Billiard enthusiast and businessman Riyasat Karim Bhuiyan has been entrusted with the responsibility of this federation.
On his own initiative, Riyasat has been helping billiard players for a long time. The scope of his dreams has also increased as he got the official responsibility.
“Billiard-snookers is my meditation. I want to organize international tournament in Bangladesh. Billiard culture exists in many districts outside of Dhaka.”
There is a desire to develop them and hold regular tournaments. For the first time, the nominees have got the responsibility of GS in these four federations of Bridge, Basketball, Kabaddi and Hockey. Retired army officer Kamrul Islam is the GS of the Squash Federation. The Squash Federation was already thinking about the Los Angeles Olympics. He wants to take necessary steps to implement that idea through the new committee.
