Emon-Rabbi join Tigers’ squad for last T20I

Pace bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi and batsman Parvez Hossain Emon have been added to the Bangladesh squad for the third and final match T20I series against Pakistan on 22 November. Both players are yet to debut in T20Is.

Bangladesh conceded an eight-wicket defeat in the second game, and also lost the series 2-0 with a match to spare against visitors Saturday.

Four uncapped players got a call up as Bangladesh Cricket Board had announced a 16-man squad on Tuesday, top-order batter Saif Hassan has been called for the T20 squad for the first time with Yasir Ali Chowdhury, pacer Shohidul Islam and wicketkeeper-batsman Akbar Ali.

However, Saif couldn't employ his chance as he only managed to score 1 run in first two matches.

Emon, who was another member of the U-19 World Cup winning team was on the BCB’s radar before the Pakistan series got selected now for the first time.

The left-hander had smashed a 42-ball century in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, the fastest by a Bangladeshi in T20s.

On the other hand, left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is uncertain for the third and final game due to pain on his side and that's why BCB included Rabbi in the squad. Rabbi has played 7 Tests for Tigers so far.

Mustafizur Rahman is suffering from side soreness, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board medical team.

The pain was one of the factors that caused the Bangladesh bowler to leave the field after the first ball of his second over against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

“Mustafizur felt sudden pain in his side during his second over of bowling.

He will be reassessed again [Sunday] and a decision will be made on whether he will be match-fit for the final T20 international of the series,” said a BCB media release following the game Saturday.

Another reason Mustafizur had to leave the field was because of a probable breach of the series' bio-secured bubble protocol.
