Eid items distributed among 1,000 families in Damudya

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid gifts, cash, food items and cloths were distributed among one thousand Corona pandemic affected unemployed, helpless families in Damudya upazila of Shariatpur on Saturday. 

Parveen Haque Sikder, Member of Parliament from women's reserved seat, virtually inaugurated the distribution held in front of Damudya Upazila Nirbahi Officer's Office at around 12:15 pm on Saturday.

Damudya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mortuza Al-Mueed, Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Alamgir Hossain, Damudya Municipal Councilor Montu Chayal, social worker Miraj Sikder, Rakibul Hasan and others were present at the time.

Earlier, 'Eid gifts' were distributed among 2,000 helpless families in Vedarganj and Gosairhat upazila of Shariatpur on behalf of the MP.

Each packet of the ‘Eid gifts’ included rice, flour, sugar, vermicelli, edible oil, soap, salt, potatoes and onions. Besides, lungi-sari, jainamaz and cash of one thousand rupees were distributed.

When contacted, MP Parveen Haque Sikder said, On the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr amid this ongoing Corona pandemic, Eid gifts, cash, food items and Eid cloths were distributed among one thousand unemployed, destitute and helpless families in Damudya upazila on Saturday.”  “Eid gifts were also distributed among helpless families in Vedarganj and Gosairhat upazilas on Friday. I am by the side of the helpless, I will always be there”, she added.
