EC orders another admin reshuffle

In another major administrative reshuffle, the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday ordered withdrawal of two metropolitan police commissioners, one deputy commissioner and five police superintendents for holding the upcoming national election in a free, fair and credible manner.

At the same time, the EC also ordered transfer of the officer-in-charges (OCs) of three police stations.

The instructions signed byDeputy Secretary of the EC Md Mizanur Rahman were sent to secretaries of the ministries concerned.  

According to a press release signed by Md Asadul Haque, assistant director (public relations) at the EC, OCs of Manikganj Sadar and Singair of Manikganj, and Shreepur of Gazipur will be transferred outside their respective districts.

The EC issued withdrawal orders from metropolitan police in Barishal and Sylhet. It also ordered withdrawal of the deputy commissioner of Brahmanbaria.

The superintendents of police of Habiganj, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Satkhira, and Meherpur districts are to be withdrawn as per EC order.

The EC wrote to the ministries concerned to send proposals for the appointment of experienced and qualified personnel to their positions for approval.

In the letter sent to the senior secretary of the public security division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, instructions have been given to withdraw the superintendents of police (SPs) of Habiganj, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Satkhira and Meherpur along with two police commissioners of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) and Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP).

The EC in the letter sent to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, ordered withdrawal of the deputy commissioner of Brahmanbaria and to appoint a qualified and experienced deputy commissioner there. 

Also, in another letter sent to the senior secretary of the home ministry, the EC also gave instructions to withdraw the OCs of Manikganj Sadar, Singair and Sreepur police stations and asked the authorities concerned to depute experienced officers in their places.
