The 6th convocation of Eastern University will be held on its permanent campus in Savar on November 16.
Prof Dr. Shahid Akhter Hossain, Vice Chancellor of the university, said this at a press conference on Wednesday morning. Prof. Tahmina Ahmed, Dean of Arts Faculty, Sajedul Islam Fatemi, Director of Public Relations, Nazla Fatemi, Assistant Professor of English department, Iftekhar Mahmud, Assistant Prof of Law Department, Dr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Deputy Register, were present at the press conference, among others.
The VC said this is the first time that they are arranging convocation at their own campus in Savar. Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel will be preside over the convocation ceremony as representative of President Abdul Hamid who is also chancellor of the private university. JoAnne Wagner, Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy in Dhaka, will be the convocation speaker. Prof. Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman of University Grants Commission, will be present as special guest.
Eastern University was established in 2003 at Dhanmondi in the capital. The campus was transferred to Savar in January of this year.
