Rani, the dwarf cow, who earlier caught huge attention even in international media, as its owner applied to break the Guinness World Book Record, claiming that Rani is the smallest cow ever in the world, reportedly died on Thursday in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

However, officials of Savar livestock office confirmed that Rani died at their office, but the firm authority who owned the cow claimed that Rani is still alive.

Confirming Rani’s death, Md. Abdul Muttalib, Deputy assistant livestock officer of Savar told The Bangladesh Post, “The cow was suffering from abdominal complication following excessive feeding of granular food, and the firm authority brought him to us when he was in last stage.

We, however, tried our best, but he passed away around 2:00 pm on Thursday.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Post contacted multiple officials of Shikor Agro Industries Ltd, a sister concern of Signature Group, but most of them were claimed that Rani still alive, where livestock officials claimed the cow died at their office.

Kazi Mohd. Abu Sufian, Managing Director and the CEO of Signature group told The Bangladesh Post, “The cow still in our hand, even alive, so if anyone said spreading rumour that the cow died, then what can I do” Adding that, they will officially send a statement to media within a short time on this issue.

However, Bangladesh Post could not verify that whether Rani died or not as the firm authority did not allow this reporter to visit the firm, besides, Bangladesh Post did not obtain any image of the cow which may witness of it's dead or alive.
