Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Saturday expressed deep shock at the death of renowned novelist and Ekushey Padak winning writer Rizia Rahman.
In a condolence message, he said, “Rizia Rahman has an expansive list of literary works including novels, short stories, poems, essays and children fiction. She received many prestigious awards for her contribution to the field of literature. She will be remembered for her literary works in the days to come. I am very shocked at her death.”
Prof Akhtaruzzaman prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Rizia Rahman and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Rizia Rahman breathed her last at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Apollo Hospitals on Friday at the age of 80.
