Outside students will be admitted in the number of seats that remain vacant after admission of regular students of DU. If the conditions are fulfilled, the aspirants will have to appear in written test of 100 marks and viva test. Departments and institutes will conduct admission tests separately and offer admission to students based on merit list. These students will not get residential facility in the university. However, this provision may be relaxed for foreign students.

From the academic year 2022-23, the departments of DU will be able to admit external students for postgraduate studies, said the Vice-Chancellor (Education) of DU, Professor ASM Maqsood Kamal.
