Dhaka University 2021-2022 academic year (July-December) Ph.D. Applicants in the prescribed form are requested to apply for admission in the program in university provided forms. Candidates have to apply by selecting a caretaker from among the teachers of the concerned department / institute. The application form can be downloaded on the website (https://du.ac.bd) of Dhaka University. Applicants have to deposit Tk. 1000 at Janata Bank TSC branch for the admission form fee.
The application form should be duly filled and submitted to the office of the Chairman of the concerned department / Director of the Institute. The application form should be accompanied by the original copy of the deposit receipt of Tk.1000 deposited for the fee of the admission form, an outline of the research, photocopies of all the examination marks and 1 recent passport size photograph attested by the concerned supervisor / department chairman / director of the institute.
The application for admission has to be made after determining the equivalence of the degree obtained from abroad. Failure to provide complete and correct information will result in cancellation of admission. Ph.D. Candidate for admission in the program M.Phil. Applicants must have a 4 year bachelor's degree and 1 year master's degree or 3 years bachelor's degree and 1 year master's degree from.
Candidates pursuing 3-year bachelor's degree and 1-year master's degree must have at least 2 years of teaching experience at a recognized educational institution at the undergraduate level or at least 2 years of research work at a recognized research institution or public, private, autonomous or semi-government organisation. In addition, candidates must have at least 2 research papers published in a recognized journal. In case of Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Business Studies, at least 1 research publication should be in single name.
It is to be noted that undergraduate and postgraduate degree holders from any private university of the country cannot be directly admitted in the PhD program of Dhaka University. Before enrolling in the PhD program, they have to be admitted in the MPhil program of Dhaka University. Before collecting the application form for MPhil degree holders from private universities, they have to apply to the concerned committee to determine the equivalence of the degree obtained.
