The 12th reunion of Dhaka University Philosophy Department Alumni Association (DUPDAA) was held on the campus on Friday with huge enthusiasm and festivity. DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the day-long programme as the chief guest at Teachers and Students Center (TSC) of DU.
Chairman of the Department of Philosophy of DU and the President of the Alumni Association of Philosophy Department Dr Md Shahjahan Mia presided over the occasion where AK Azad, president of Dhaka University Alumni Association, spoke as the special guest. Founding President of the Alumni Association of Philosophy, Dr Azizunnahar Islam delivered the welcome speech. General Secretary of DUPDAA Mahfuza Rahman Chowdhury was present, among others.
Professor Akhtaruzzaman urged the alumni to come forward to help the unprivileged students of DU. He called on the alumni to assist in research work of the university through the formation of 'Endowment Fund'. Hundreds of former students of the department took part in the event. Besides, a total of six alumni of the university were distributed honorary special awards for their outstanding contribution to the Department.
