The teachers of the Department of English of Dhaka University have called for the immediate release of Md Abul Hasnat alias Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement, along with other detained students of the university.
“We urge the law enforcing agencies to show restraint and act responsibly as they interrogate those who have been detained,” said the teachers at a press release on Sunday.
They expressed a deep concern over the loss of lives, indiscriminate arrests and harassments of students and common people, following the recent student protests against discriminatory recruitment policies.
“We support the rightful demands of students, and hope that an amicable solution will be reached through dialogues,” said the press release.
