DU emerges champions

In a thrilling showcase of intellect and prowess, Dhaka University's programming team "Ascending" clinched the coveted title of champions at the National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC)-2023. The competition, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), saw an intense battle among 200 teams representing 71 public and private universities nationwide.

The first runners-up position was secured by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology's team, "SUST_Guess Forces," while Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology's team "Buet_Nightfall" claimed the honor of second runners-up. The event, spanning two days, attracted a staggering 600 students, who showcased their programming acumen.

During the closing ceremony held on Saturday, Brac University's Distinguished Professor Mohammad Kaykobad and Jahangirnagar University's Physics Department Professor Dr. A. A. Mamun presented the awards to the triumphant teams. The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities including CSE Department Chairman Professor Dr. Md Golam Moazzam, Professor Dr. Jugal Krishna Das, Professor Dr. Mohammad Zahidur Rahman, and Assistant Professor Mohammad Ashraful Islam.

Associate Professor Sarnali Basak, representing the CSE department, efficiently conducted the proceedings, ensuring a smooth and organized event. The competition, preceded by rigorous selection through an online round, attracted a staggering 1,100 teams vying for a chance to showcase their skills at the national level.

The triumph of Dhaka University's "Ascending" team underscores the institution's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in the field of computer science and engineering.  Such competitions not only provide a platform for students to showcase their technical abilities but also promote collaboration and innovation in the ever-evolving landscape of programming and technology.

As the curtains drew to a close on NCPC-2023, participants departed with newfound experiences, friendships, and a renewed zeal to push the boundaries of technological innovation.  With events like these, the future of programming in Bangladesh looks promising, as it continues to inspire and empower the next generation of computer scientists and engineers.
