DU Bangla alumni reunion held

The 4th reunion of Dhaka University  (DU) Bangla Alumni was held at the Student-Teacher Center premises of the university on Saturday. Vice Chancellor of DU Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the day-long programme as the chief guest.

President of the DU Bangla Alumni Effective Council, National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman chaired the inaugural ceremony where Vice President of the Council National Professor Rafiqul Islam, General Secretary Syed Mohammad Shahed, Chairman of the Bangla Department Professor Vishmadev Chowdhury and senior educators of the country were present.

Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said, “Dhaka University began its journey on July 1, 1921 with a total of 12 departments, including the Bangla department. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is an alumni of this department. This section has developed numerous personalities including Harprasad Shastri, Dr Muhammad Shahidullah, Dr M Anisuzzaman and Dr Rafiqul Islam. Talented students of Bangla department have been representing Bangladesh in many fields.”

Describing the Bangla division as a lighthouse of secular and humanitarian values, he said that with these ideologies the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established an independent-sovereign Bangladesh.
