An agreement between the University of Dhaka (DU) and Sunlife Insurance Company Ltd was signed on Sunday at the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) lounge of DU to provide insurance coverage to teachers, officers and employees of the university.
Treasurer of DU Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin and Managing Director of Sunlife Insurance Company Ltd AKM Shariful Islam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective side.
VC Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Pro-VC (administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Chairperson of Sunlife Insurance Company Professor Rubina Malek, Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman and some other officials from both sides were present on this occasion.
According to the agreement, Sunlife Insurance Company Ltd will pay a fixed amount at a time to DU teachers, officers and employees who will die during the working period.
