Drug peddler held with 50 kg cannabis in capital

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested one top drug peddler along with huge amount of contraband cannabis from city’s Tejgaon area on Tuesday night.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post on Wednesday, Additional Deputy Commissioner ( ADC) of  DB-North of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Shajahan Shaju confirmed the matter.   

The arrested has been identified as Md Khokon, 52, son of late Abdul Malek, hailing from Nolgoria under Bijoynagor Upazila in   Brahmanbaria district.

ADC Shajahan said, “Acting on a tip off, a team of DB police, led by Assistant Commissioner MahabubAlam, raided at Satrasta Crossing under Tejgaon Industrial Area at around 8:10 pm.”

AC Mahabub said “We nabbed Khokon and seized 50 kilograms of cannabis from his possession.”

During primary interrogation, Khokon admitted that he was supplying cannabis in and around the city after smuggling it from the bordering areas of Brahmanbaria district for long.

A case was filed with Tejgaon Industrial Police Station under Narcotics Control Act.

Later, he was sent to jail through court order.
