The members of RAB-11 in a raid on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler along with one hundred ninety two bottles of contraband phensedyl syrup from underground of a rickshaw garage at Masdair area under Fatulla police station in the district.
The arrestee was identified as Imon Sarker, 26, a tenant of Masdair area and hailed from Rajshahi district.
The company commander additional police super Mohammad Jasimuddin in a media brief claimed that Sabbir Alam, a drug don who carried phensedyl syrup from Rajshahi area with mango and other goods and kept them in a rickshaw garage for selling near and far. A case was registered with Fatulla police station in this regard.
On the other hand, Narayanganj Sadar police station in a drive on August 16 at Nitaiganj area in the town recovered 115 pieces of yaba pills and captured a female drug trader Sumi Akter.
The arrestee was identified as Sumi Akter, wife of Badshah Raju, resident of Basopatti village of Jhalakathi district and tenant of Khokon Mia house at Niatiganj Machua Bazaar in the town.
Sumi Akter was under police remand for a day and then gave a confessional statement before the senior judicial magistrate Mahmudul Mohsin’s court. She stated that a resident of Nitaiganj area HalimaAkter Shilpi, 40, wife of Kuddus Mia was a retailer of yaba pills and she (Sumi) purchased from Halima and sold in the locality. A case was recorded with Narayanganj Sadar thana police in this connection.
