RAB-7 arrested Yaba dealer Md Azam Uddin Chowdhury and his associate from Karnaphuli police station area of Chattogram. Meanwhile, 2 lakh 20 thousand pieces of Yaba and domestically made firearms were seized from the ground of his house's warehouse.
The estimated value of recovered drugs is Tk 6 crore 60 lakhs.
Captain Lieutenant Colonel MA Yusuf gave this information in a press conference at RAB-7 Chandgaon office on Sunday afternoon.
The arrested are Yaba dealer Md Azam Uddin Chowdhury (26) son of deceased Sultan Ahmed of Shah Mirpur area in Karnaphuli police station and the other is Syed Noor Prakash Rubel Hossain (30) son of Abdul Nur of the same area.
Lt Col MA Yusuf said that for the past 4-5 days Bangladesh-Myanmar border area Teknaf, Ukhia and other places were raided and a large quantity of foreign liquor, beer, smuggled goods and cigarettes were seized. A large consignment of yaba was seized from there.
On the basis of the information obtained from various operations, an idea is obtained about the drug dealers of Chattogram.
Last Saturday afternoon, they were arrested after raiding a residential house in Shahmirpur Badamtal area of Karnaphuli police station. According to the arrestees, about 2 lakh 20 thousand pieces of yaba were hidden under the ground in a warehouse next to the residence and 2 one-shot guns and 4 rounds of cartridges were recovered under water in a polybag. He also said that they are being handed over to the concerned police station to take legal action against those arrested.
