Member of the Parliament and President of Exporters Association of Bangladesh Abdus Salam Murshedy has assured that the children of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) members will be given the opportunity to study free of charge in the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT).
He said this while inaugurating the ID card distribution programme for the members of DRU at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium on Sunday.
The former football player of the national team Salam Murshedy was also the President of BGMEA, association of readymade clothes exporters.
DRU President Nazrul Islam Mithu presided over the event while General Secretary Nurul Islam Hasib delivered the welcome speech. Organising Secretary Abdullah Al Kafi moderated the event.
Vice-president Mahmudul Hasan, publication and publicity secretary Kamal Uddin Sumon, entertainment secretary Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman, Executive member Hasan Javed, Shushanto Kumar Shaha, and SK Reza Parvez were also present.
Former General Secretary Razu Ahmed and Joint Secretary Arafat Daria were also present, among others.
Salam Murshedy thanked DRU for the initiative and said ID cards are necessary everywhere.
According to the DRU, the ID cards will be used for safety and security purpose of the organisation including the media centre, and Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Library. Besides, the ID card will facilitate discounts to different hospitals which have contracts with the DRU.
Stickers for personal vehicles of DRU members would also be issued as soon as possible, said a press release.
