Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has introduced ‘DRU Literary Award’ to recognise the authors, who are members of the organisation.
The current executive committee (2022) of the DRU has decided to introduce the ‘DRU Literary Award’ from this year in recognition of DRU members’ creative work in the field of literature and research.
Nurul Islam Hasib, general secretary of DRU, said that many members of the DRU are involved in writing and research and many of their books are published each year. “The ‘DRU Literary Award has been introduced this year in recognition of their writings and creativity. However, a DRU member was given a literary award in 2016.
We hope that subsequent committees will continue the award which has been introduced this year with the concept of giving every year,” he added.
According to a DRU press release issued on Monday (March 22), the ‘DRU Literary Award’ will be given in three categories-- (1) story/novel, (2) poetry/rhyme and (3) essays/research.
Books, which are written by DRU members on the fields, published during the period from April 1 in 2021 to March 30 in 2022 will be considered for this year’s award.
The winners will receive cash money, crest and certificate of recognition. However, all the authors of the submitted books will be honoured as always.
The writers (DRU members are requested to submit 5 (five) copies of the book to the DRU office by March 31 for the ‘DRU Literary Award-2022’. A DRU member can submit books in all categories. However, a member will not be considered or nominated for an award in more than one category.
