The 22nd national council of the ruling Awami League (AL) will be held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on December 24. Earlier, AL President Sheikh Hasina, also Prime Minister, had asked her party leaders to form full-fledged committees of the expired metropolitan, district, upazial, thana, municipality and union level units across the country before the national council.

The leaders were also asked to complete the councils of the party’s different associate bodies like Jubo League, Awami Shwecchasebak League, Jatiya Sramik League, Women Awami League, Krishak League, Tanti League and Swadhinota Chikitsok Parishad.

As part of the move to give a boost to organisational activities of AL after a long gap for coronavirus outbreak, party’s senior leaders are also holding meetings of presidium, working committee and assssociate bodies alongside holding councils and forming committees. They have already completed most of the councils from metropolitan to union and formed new committees there across the country in line with party’s high command directive.

The party’s stalwarts, grassroots leaders and workers are now working hard and passing busy time round the clock to complete the councils of the rest ones and form new committees there within the deadline.

The leaders and

 workers from

grassroots to central

 must work in

unison

The council of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the students’ wing of the ruling party, will also be held on December 6 at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital city of Dhaka.

As part of the holding council and forming new committee on Saturday, Meher Afroze Chumki, MP, and Shabnam Jahan Sheela were made president and general secretary of Mahila Awami League respectively for the next three years.

There are many candidates, but only one has to be nominated or selected for a single post for the new committee everywhere in the country. So, many leaders have got frustrated and become demoralised as they have not been selected for the new committees.

Still, there are conflicts in the party in some places of the country. As the AL leadership is keen to bring all dedicated and tested party men into committees at different levels, the party remains alert in forming organisational committees.

The tested and devoted leaders during any crisis cannot be dropped from the committees. The leaders and workers will have to keep in mind that the next elections will be very tough for the party. The leaders and workers from grassroots to central must work in unison to make AL candidates winner in the next national election.

The party nominated leaders will be the candidate of boat symbol. Everyone will work for the victory of the boat and that is what AL wants. We hope that the remaining committees will also be completed before the national council. Now it is time for the party men to gear up activities so that the victory of the AL candidates can be ensured in the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad polls.
