Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Krishna Pada Roy visited Noor Nagar Housing under Chandgaon Police Station and Moizzartek cattle market under Karnaphuli Police Station in Chattogram city on Monday.
During the visit, the CMP Commissioner explained various aspects of the security measures adopted by the CMP to the journalists present.
After visiting the market, he talked to journalists.
In response to the questions of the journalists, he said that the intelligence agency is working to detect fake money. Moreover, some cattle markets built around the road have been evacuated. Cattle markets outside the leased premises will be subject to legal action.
Krishna Pada Roy also said that it is prohibited to block cattle carts on the road. All cattle markets in the port city are being monitored round the clock by the CCTV cameras and drones.
CMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Faisal Mahmood; Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration and Finance) MA Masud; Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) ASM Mahtab Uddin along with senior officials of CMP were also present at the time.
It is known that there are nearly 30 cattle markets were set up in the port city this year. However, there are three permanent cattle markets in the port city.
The three permanent cattle markets in Chattogram city are Sagarika, Bibirhat and Postarpar Bazar. Almost nine-fold cattle temporary cattle markets increased in the port city following the demand of local people and ward commissioners.
According to the Chattogram City Corporation, the temporary cattle markets generated around Tk2.87 crore revenue in 2020, Tk2.50 crore in 2021, and Tk. 6.46 crore in 2022.
