Draft 'Primary Education Board Act’ finalised

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MOPME) has finalised the draft Primary Education Board Act, 2021 to improve the quality of primary education and conduct final examinations.

In this regard, MOPME posted a notification on its website on Sunday.

The notification said the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) is a department under MOPME. The draft of the Primary Education Board Act, 2021 had been sent to various ministries, departments, offices and agencies seeking their opinions / recommendations on the Act.

After receiving their opinions and recommendations, an inter-ministerial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary of the Ministry Hasibul Alam on October 24. The draft has been prepared after verification and selection in the meeting. According to the Rules of Business, the draft law has been attached herewith to verify public opinion.

It is further informed in the notification, if there is any opinion / recommendation on the draft of Primary Education Board Act, 2021, it could be sent to the Secretary, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (e-mail- [email protected]) by November 25.

The draft law said that the law would be applied to primary education. The Board of Primary Education will be able to implement this law by issuing notification in the official gazette.

The organization of primary education under this Act may complete or abolish some regional offices of the Board of Primary Education as required for the management, supervision, control and development of education.

The office of the Board of Primary Education will be stationed in Dhaka. However, there is an opportunity to set up multiple boards in different parts of the country. There will also be a fund called the Primary Education Board Fund.
