Dr Salam takes charge as IU VC

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam of Islamic University (IU) took over the charge on the campus in Kushtia on Sunday.

Dr Salam officially took over after placing floral wreath at the feet of Mural "Mrittunjoyee Mojib" adjacent to the university main entrance area around 10:00am.

IU pro-vice chancellor prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, registrar in charge SM Abdul Latif, attended the  programme, among others.

A Dua-Munajat programme was held here seeking the forgiveness of the depart soul of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Pro-VC Dr Shahinoor Rahman welcomed the new vice chancellor Dr Salam with flowers at his office around 10:30am.

Later, IU Bangabandhu Parishad, Kormokorta Somittiee, Assistant Employee Association, IU Journalists' Association, IU Press Club, BCL leaders and activists, Kushtia Police, English department among others congratulated the newly appointed VC at his office.

While speaking with journalists, Dr Salam said 'the main purpose of a university is education and research and we want to respect the flow.

The direct stakeholders of the university are teachers, officers, staff and students if they work together then we can make a vision, mission successful.

He also said, my office is always open for journalists and all university information  except academic subjects is open to journalists.

On September 29,  President Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university appointed him to post for the next four years under the section 10(1) of the university act 1980.
