Don’t interfere in UZ polls

EC Ahsan Habib asks ministers, MPs

Election Commissioner (EC) Ahsan Habib Khan has warned the parliament members (MPs), ministers or others not to interfere in upcoming upazila parishad (UZ) polls so that the EC could deliver a free and fair, and meaningful election scheduled for next month.  If anyone attempts to interfere in the upcoming UZ polls, he might loss his credibility. Ahsan Habib Khan was sharing views with the media activists on the office premises of Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Tuesday. 

Earlier he sat with the deputy commissioners (DCs), superintendents of Police (SPs), district and upazila level election officers, border guard Bangladesh (BGB) members of Jhenaidah and Chuadanga, upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) and others concerned of Jhenaidah, Kushtia, Magura, Chuadanga and Meherpur districts involved in 6th UZ election process.  Jhenaidah DC SM Rafiqul Islam presided over the discussion session in the conference room of the DC. Mr Habib said each and every member of the parliament (MPs), ministers, state ministers, political leaders have been rendering their utmost cooperation in the past polls that had helped deliver free and fair polls in our country.  They all and the journalist community will once again will assist their cooperation so that the upcoming UZ polls might be held in a peaceful manner throughout the country.  

 EC Ahsan Habib Khan said the EC was very concern about the polls as the number of candidates will be more than the past times and the law enforcing agencies will furnish their duty and responsibility.

 staying above all to avoid any violence marking the polls. 

He urged upon the journalist community members to play positive and impartial role so that the people could get the real picture of the elections.
