Police have recovered the body of a doctor from Chitra river at Bagharpara upazila in Jashore in the early hours on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Khairul Islam, 45, son of Ahmed Ali of Lebutala union of Jashore Sadar upazila. His was recovered under the bridge adjacent to Khajura Bazar in the river.
According to the locals, a pedestrian suddenly saw the body floating on the bank of the river and informed the police. Police came and recovered the body with the help of locals.
Raihan Hossain, son of the victim, said his father was a rural homeopath doctor by profession. His father left the house on Friday afternoon. He had been missing since afternoon.
Jumman Khan, a sub-inspector at the Khajura police camp in Bagharpara police station, said the victim had bruises on his head. Police recovered the body and sent it to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy.
