Officials of the Department of the National Consumers' Rights Protection, Rajshahi division, organised an exchange of views with the journalists in Rajshahi at Rajshahi Press Club auditorium on Tuesday ( Jan-3) evening.

The exchange of views was arranged welcoming the newly posted Deputy Director of  DNCRP, Rajshahi division, Mohammad Selim during his visit to Rajshahi Press Club.

During the programme, the journalists mentioned that the National Consumers' Rights Protection Department was the room for confidence and trust for the consumers. Common people are being cheated by various organisations in various ways but the people as well as the consumers are unaware of their rights.

That is why consumers should be made aware of their rights, rules and regulations through various publicities, propagations, posters, messages, leaflets etc and it was only possible to get a positive result when people would become aware of and protest against this malpractice.

Saidur Rahman, President of Rajshahi Press Club in this connection informed, the clinics and diagnostic centres in the city were charging an excessive amount of fees  from the patients and their attendants for conducting various tests. Moreover, many coaching centres in the city were conducting their business without paying any VAT, tax to the government.

Action should be taken against those coaching centres and the diagnostic clinics, he added.

Masum Ali, Assistant Director of DNCRP, Rajshahi, said the department is working  to ensure the quality and prices of all commercial commodities and action is taken against those who violate the rights or make loss of any consumer from their rights.
