DNCRP raids in Jibannagar: Businessman fined Tk 30,000

A fine of 30,000 Taka has been imposed on a bakery named 'Shapala Food Products' in Andulbaria Bazaar, Jibannagar upazila. The penalty was levied for preparing food items in an unhygienic environment, selling products without manufacturing dates on the packaging, and using the BSTI mark without approval.

The fine was issued by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) in Chuadanga District. The raid was conducted in Andulbaria Bazaar from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Wednesday.

According to sources from the Consumer Rights Department, inspections were carried out until Wednesday noon at various establishments in the Andulbaria Bazaar area, including seed and pesticide shops, bakeries, and grocery stores. During the raid, the proprietor of Shapala Food Products, Md. Abul Basar, was fined 30,000 Taka under the Consumer Rights Act for multiple violations, primarily for preparing food in an unsanitary environment.

During the operation, other businesses were instructed to update their price lists, buy and sell goods at fixed and reasonable prices, and refrain from selling expired and substandard products.

The raid was conducted with the overall assistance of Salma Jahan Nipa, Outreach Officer of the District Seed Certification Office, CAB representative Rafiqul Islam, and a team from Chuadanga District Police.
