DNCC Mayor to build modern Dhaka for all

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said, "We have to transform sadness into strength and build a modern Dhaka, livable for all." 

He was speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting, distribution of food items and prayer organized by Uttara East and West Thana on the occasion of the 46th martyrdom anniversary of thr Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

The Mayor recalled the martyrs with deep respect including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were brutally killed by the assassins on the night of 15th August 1975 and seeks forgiveness of the departed souls of all the martyrs. 

Md. Atiqul Islam said that the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign state on the world map is entirely because of Bangabandhu. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is moving forward on the way to development. He further said that the PM has distributed 1,000 packets of food items including rice, pulses, potatoes, soybean oil and salt among 1,000 poor and helpless families affected by the pandemic as a gift. 

He further said that he wanted to work to serve the people of the city, not to enjoy power as a mayor. The mayor called upon the people of the city to implement the slogan "Clean your homes, 10 minutes every Saturday at 10 am”.

 At the end of his keynote address as the chief guest, the DNCC mayor handed over packets of food items as gifts to the poor and helpless people. 

Uttara West Thana Awami League President Advocate Monwar Islam Chowdhury presided over the discussion meeting, distribution of food items and prayer. Mohammad Habib Hasan, Member of Parliament from Dhaka-18 constituency, Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and General Secretary SM Mannan Kochi, were present during the event, along with others.
