A special three-day clean-up activity is being conducted in the educational institutions to ensure a healthy environment for education, said Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam.

He made this remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the three-day special clean-up program at Gulshan Model School and College in Gulshan-2 area of the capital on Wednesday.

The Mayor said, “In order to implement ‘Healthy Environment for Education’, DNCC is conducting special clean-up activities in 443 institutions of government, private and semi-government primary, secondary and colleges on September 8, 9 and 10. In addition, special clean-up activities will be conducted on September 11 in all the educational institutions where the mass vaccination activities of Covid-19 are being conducted.”

Md Atiqul Islam said at this time, fogging and spraying has been taken in every classroom of the concerned institution and an initiative has been taken to clean around the educational institutions including the playground and roof. In addition, if water is stagnant in the toilets of educational institutions or anywhere else, larvi-siding will be done there.

He called upon to inform about the educational institution through ‘Sobar Dhaka’ mobile apps used in citizen service or hotline numbers 09602222333 and 09602222334 or the concerned regional executive officer of DNCC.

“A beautiful and healthy environment is very important for the students to develop as healthy and conscious citizens. Therefore, it is necessary to keep every house and educational institution clean and tidy.”, he asserted.

“In homes or educational institutions, flower tubs, unused tires, coconut shells, various types of open packets or pots, roofs or anything else should be kept in check so that water does not accumulate for more than three days.", he added urging everyone to be aware.

Meanwhile, special cleaning activities were conducted at Gulshan Model School and College in the presence of Md Atiqul Islam.

Among others, DNCC CEO Md Selim Reza, senior officials and local councilors were present at the time.
