Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has carried out clean-up activities including fogging and larvaciding in 640 educational institutions before schools reopened.
DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam made the statement while implementing the slogan “Clean your house, 10 minutes, at 10am every Saturday” and inspecting the fogging, larviciding and other activities around the home of the identified dengue patient to combat Aedes mosquitoes and dengue at the Pirerbagh area in Mirpur on Saturday morning.
The mayor said that considering the overall situation, out of moral responsibility, steps have been taken and implemented to ensure and act upon the slogan, ‘Healthy Environment for Education’ through special cleanliness in various government, private and semi-government educational institutions in the Dhaka North City Corporation area.
The DNCC mayor entered the Pirerbag Government Primary School and identified Aedes larvae in multiple unused toilets of the institution. He claimed the matter to be very sad and instructed the headmaster to clear it by the day.
He said that in the current pandemic, all including students, teachers and parents have to abide by the government guidelines and health rules. He said that in every classroom used for teaching, all concerned should be vigilant so that the students are taught while wearing proper masks while maintaining social distance.
He said that if any educational institution is still require special cleaning activities, it will be cleaned if it is informed through "Shobar Dhaka" mobile app or hotline numbers 09602222333 and 09602222334 or regional executive officer.
The DNCC mayor advised city dwellers to use mosquito nets while sleeping and children to wear full clothes instead of shorts.
He said that if the correct information of dengue patients admitted in other hospitals including children's hospital is provided to DNCC, larviciding including fogging up to 200 meters around the house of the concerned dengue patient will be arranged as soon as possible.
Under the direction of the DNCC mayor and with the help of the local people, footpaths and roads were cleared from illegal occupancies in the Pirerbag area and part of a building under construction, stairs of different buildings and construction materials were bulldozed.
