Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) engineers received two upgraded and more effective mist sprayers recently (Tuesday last) in order to tackle air pollution considering the continuous degradation of the city’s air quality over the years.

Each sprayer is said to have a water system with high pressure to clean and remove harmful dust both from the air and land. The dispensing nozzle of its 15000-litre water reservoir can spray in all directions. The two machines cost the DNCC Tk 13.42 crore.

The engineers claimed that using both the spray bars and the mist spray would result in high-performance cleaning, especially around construction sites or in cleaning campaigns around the city.

“We received the equipment in order to control the dust pollution in Dhaka City”, said DNCC Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Maksud Alam

“The water tank of the sprayer has an airflow capacity of 61,800 m3/h and water flow capacity of 4000 ltr/H while the water gun can spray in a 40-meter range”, claimed Md Khurshed Alam, manager of Sohel Engineering & Construction Ltd, the company that supplied the machines.

He informed that both the cleaning system and the water spray can be controlled from the PTO of Truck Chassis. Extra set of generators control the cannon. Spray bars or the flat spraying nozzle is set in the front and rear end of the vehicle for spraying and watering.

“The machines were brought for upgraded waste management and further controlling the air pollution in the city”, said Abul Hasnat Md Ashruful Islam, DNCC superintending engineer.

He informed that the DNCC plans to bring in two more advanced floating excavators and weed harvesters in order to claim the water bodies in the city. He further informed that they already own nine mechanical road sweepers and half a dozen more are in plans to be purchased. Two sucker machines were also bought by the DNCC and they are looking to buy one more.
