A smart team from the Dinajpur District Office of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested a truck along with its driver and helper, seizing 62 kg of cannabis during an operation on Sunday. This large consignment of drugs was cleverly hidden inside the truck. The successful operation was conducted in front of Messrs MS Motors at the Mirzapur Bus Terminal area, adjacent to the Dinajpur Central Bus Terminal.
This special operation was led by Inspector Md. Abdur Razzak of the DNC Dinajpur District Office, based on a tip-off. Sources indicated that the drug peddlers had hidden the cannabis in the truck in such a way that it would not easily catch the attention of the general public. They used this method to transport narcotics from one place to another. Based on the secret information, the DNC's smart team was lying in wait beforehand and, after monitoring the truck's movements, successfully made the arrest.
The arrested individuals are: truck driver Md. Bahar Uddin Sajeeb (30), son of Mohammad Palash from Gopalpur village, Barura Upazila, Comilla district, and helper Md. Shakil Hossain (26), son of the late Mijanur Rahman from Sonapur village in the same district. As both of them are from Comilla district, the administration is investigating the Comilla connection of this drug trade.
A regular case has been filed against these two individuals at the Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station under sections 19(c), 38, and 41 of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, along with the seized 62 kg of cannabis and the truck used for drug transportation.
Confirming this significant operation, Deputy Director of the DNC Dinajpur District Office, Md. Rakibuzzaman, stated, "Our regular operations against drugs are ongoing. The quantity of this consignment proves that drug peddlers are adopting new tactics every day. However, our smart team will not let them succeed in any way. Legal action is being taken against the arrested individuals, and the investigation will continue to find the masterminds behind this ring.
