DIU VC dies, UGC Chairman expresses shock

Prof Dr KM Mohsin, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka International University (DIU), has passed away. 

Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, condoled the death of Prof Mohsin, who is also a former Member of UGC and a former Professor of the History Department of Dhaka University. 

UGC Chairman in a condolence message said that the nation has lost a renowned educationist and historian at his death. The death of Prof Mohsin is an irreparable loss to the higher education sector of the country.

UGC Chairman prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and extended deep sympathy to the bereaved family members of the deceased.   

Prof Mohsin had been serving the Dhaka International University as its Vice-Chancellor for the 2nd term since November 2018. He was also the Chairperson of the Department of History, University of Dhaka; Dean, Faculty of Arts, DU; and President of Bangladesh History Association during his long teaching career. 

He graduated from the University of Dhaka in 1959 and achieved a postgraduate degree in the next year. He had a PhD degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies under the University of London in 1966.
