Authorities concerned in Khulna are taking various strategies including opening and closing of all kitchen markets and superstores there as the crowded marketplaces and business-hubs stand in the way of implementation of lockdown to check transmission of the novel coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Mohammad Helal Hossain took the decision in consultation with the concerned authorities cantering the mong of Ramzan.
From now on, rickshaws, vans, wheelbarrows, etc will be closed from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from Mahendra Stand junction in Borobazar to Kabutar Patti. If needed, traders have to load and unload goods through their own labourers.
The movement of light motor vehicles, heavy vehicles, public and private buses will remain banned from 10am till 5pm from Khulna Sadar Police Station to Kalibari. As per the order, all types of warehouses, including rice warehouses, will be open from 6am to 12 noon, while business outlets and markets will remain closed.
However, essential services outlets for daily use items will remain open from 12 noon to 5pm, during which all kinds of warehouses will be closed. The Khulna district administration has requested all businesses and shops operating in Borobazar and adjoining areas to comply with the directive until further notice. Legal action will be taken against those who disobey this order.
