Distribution of VGD cards starts in Sarishabari

Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) cards have been distributed among the poor families in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur. The cards were being distributed at the Parishad ground on Monday afternoon with the initiative of Pogaldigha Union Parishad.

It is known that VGD program is one of the largest social security programs of the government of Bangladesh for the development of distressed women. 

The program provides food assistance for the development and sustainability of distressed and helpless but physically able women. Under the two-year VGD programme, 456 cards were allotted to distressed women in 2021-22 in Pogaldigha Union. These cardholders will be given 30 kg of  rice per month. 

Shaila Naznin, Upazila Women's Affairs Officer, Sams Uddin, Chairman, Pogaldigha UP, Hasibul Hasan Babu Sarkar, Member, Upazila Sechchasebak League, Solaiman Kabir, UP Entrepreneur, Mostaq Ahmed Monir, Executive Member, Sarishabari Press Club and other members of Pogaldigha Union were present at the distribution programme.
