Dist admin to stand by martyred, injured persons: Ctg DC

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman on Wednesday said that they will support the martyred and injured students and people of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

He made the remark while visiting the injured persons undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, he visited the hospital to meet the injured students and people, spoke to the doctors and inquired about their treatment.

The DC said around 35 people injured during the agitation have been treated at the CMCH while three persons have been sent to the National Institute of Ophthalmology in Dhaka for advanced treatment due to gunshot wounds. A round-the-clock monitoring team of two officers has been formed to attend to any urgent needs of the injured and monitor the overall situation.

At that time, the district administration gave each person under treatment from Tk 10,000 to Tk 20,000 and financial assistance of Tk 3.9 lakh was arranged for a total of 26 people.

Earlier, the district administration also arranged an ambulance to send a person to the National Institute of Neuroscience and another person to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) for advanced treatment.

The Deputy Commissioner said, “Not only medical and financial support, but we are determined to be with the families of martyred and injured students of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the long term. This morning, we handed over the appointment letter to Muhibul Haque, the elder brother of late martyr Ishmam in the anti-discrimination movement. Similarly, not only Shaheed Ishmam, but Chattogram district administration will also continue such initiatives for the martyred and injured students in the movement. We will discuss the employment of at least one member of their families with the authorities concerned of various public and private institutions.”

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall and Education & ICT) Md Sadiur Rahim Jadid, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) AKM Golam Morshed and officials of the district administration were also present during the visit.
