The High Court has extended the tenure of its earlier order that stayed a government order that dismissed an UP chairman for marrying an underage girl at an arbitration over the girl’s eloping with her 19-year old boyfriend.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the order on Sunday (August 22) following a writ petition filed by the suspended UP chairman.
At the same time, the court also issued a rule asking why the notification issued by the authorities concerned ordering the suspension of the chairman would not be declared illegal.
Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, a lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court, moved the petitioner in the court, while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar represented the state.

Later, Shaheen Howlader filed the writ petition challenging the legality of the government's suspension order. The suspension order was stayed for 30 days following the writ petition.
