Discussion on disability held in Jamalpur

An exchange meeting was held in Jamalpur to establish links with like-minded organizations keeping in view the commitment to protect the rights of the disabled people and to bring them into the mainstream of development.  

This meeting was held at Deurpar Chandra area of Jamalpur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday morning at the DTRC, the training center of Unnayan Sangha, organized by NSVC project implementing body World Vision and UnnayanSangha.

 The exchange of views was chaired by Deputy Director of District Social Services Office Raju Ahmed and conducted by Additional Superintendent of Police Seema Rani Sarkar, Deputy Director and District Family Planning  Sajda-i-Jannat. 

Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. AKM Shafiquzzaman, Assistant Director of Jamalpur General Hospital Dr.  Mahfuzur Rahman, Assistant Director of District Social Services Office Elias Mallick, Acting Deputy Director of District Department of Women's Affairs Kamrunnahar, Executive Director of Unnayan Sangha Md. Rafiqul Alam Mollah, Assistant Director Program MorshedIqbal, Executive Director of Jamalpur Disabled People's Organization Rahman, Executive Director of Rahman  Rina Begum, the headmaster of the school, Lata Begum, the teacher of the Swedish Autistic School, Amjad Ali, the president of the Disability Services Organization and others were present at the programme.

Asim Kumar, Manager of NSVC Project, World Vision welcomed the gathering and RumaYasmin, an expert on gender, disaster and climate change, described the objective.  Mentioning the process of reunification of persons with disabilities surveyed by the World Vision and Development Association, the work of the concerned government departments to fulfill the basic rights of persons with disabilities including health, education, livelihood, and liaison between organizations working with persons with disabilities in the district was brought at the discussion.  Government officials and NGO representatives present pledged to assist in the development of the disabled community from their respective positions.
