National Safe Food Day has been celebrated in Noakhali under the theme ‘Principles of Health, Safe Food and Hygiene’. A discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner on the occasion on Wednesday.
The meeting was organized by the district administration, Noakhali and Bangladesh Safe Food Authority on Wednesday.
District Additional Administrator (Overall) Israt Sadmin spoke in the presidency, District Safe Food Officer Sourav Roy, Animal Resources Officer Dr. Kazi Rafiquzzaman, Assistant Director of Consumer Affairs Kausar Mia, Safe Food Inspector SM Sookat Ali and Sampling Assistant Marufa Akter. Officers and employees of district administration and various departments of the district were also present on the occasion.
The speakers said that all the food from production to the dining table must be made safe. Eating unsafe food causes various diseases including cancer, kidney disease and disability. Therefore, it is important to create awareness among the people about nutritious and safe food.
The speakers further said that the government has enacted the Safe Food Act 2013 to ensure safe food for all. So everyone must work alongside the government to make food safe.
