Leaders and activists of ruling Awami League (AL) have been instructed for taking preparations for the next elections (12th) to the national parliament through reorganising the party’s central to the grassroots levels.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of the party made the directives at the party’s central working committee meeting held at the PM’s official residence in the city on Thursday.
Besides, the party chief also warned the leaders and activists who will go against the party decisions.
At the meeting, the prime minister also ordered all the party men to remain alert against conspiracies being hatched by vested quarters and the rumours being spread through different ways, including social media.
Chaired by AL chief Sheikh Hasina, the meeting was held after about one year since the last meeting was held on October 3 last year. The meeting started at 10:00am and continued till 3:00pm.
The prime minister and Awami League president in her speech asked her party leaders and workers to make the party more strong at the grassroots level as the national election is approaching.
At the end of the meeting, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that Sheikh Hasina has instructed the party leaders and workers for taking preparations for the next 12th national parliament elections.
Obaidul Quader said, "Party president Sheikh Hasina has instructed us to formulate economic policies to prepare for the next elections. The issues to be covered in the proclamation of the next election through councils, various committee and sub-committee of the party.
He said, eight organising secretaries, who are in-charges of eight divisional committees of the party, also spoke at the meeting. They described the latest situation of the party.
“Those eight leaders also submitted their reports in written to the party chief”, said Obaidul Quader.
Awami League general secretary admitted that there are some organisational problems at different places.
“The meeting dwelt on those problems and decided to take proper measures for solution to the problems”, said Obaidul Quader.
Talking to reporters, Obaidul Quader said, there are various conspiracies and rumours against the government and the Awami League as well.
“The party leaders and workers have been asked to be remain alert and fight those conspiracies and rumours in proper ways”, he added.
