The Ministry of Education has directed all the students of 18 years and above to take Covid-19 vaccine, as a move to contain the spread of coronavirus and reopen educational institutions soon.
This information was given in an order signed by Md Nazrul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education on Sunday. A notification in this regard was issued on Monday along with four instructions.
It said teachers, staff and students of all educational institutions under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) have been asked to take action to prevent the spread of coronavirus and to motivate others to be inoculated.
Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Director General of DSHE and the chairmen of all the education boards are requested to execute this directive.
The instructions in the notification to ensure immunization are:
1. The head of the educational institution will motivate the teachers, officers and employees of all the institutions and the students above the age of 18 years to take vaccines as per the instructions of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
2. Heads of department, district, upazila level office, agencies and institutions under DSHE will motivate the teachers, officers, employees and students of the educational institutions under their respective departments to get vaccinated.
3. Teachers will inspire the students and their family members in the online or virtual class about the vaccine of Covid-19, including following the health guidelines to check the spread of the dreaded virus.
4. All departments, officers and employees of the organization and teachers, officers and employees will cooperate with the local administration to motivate the people to get vaccinated.
